SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT
About the Conference
Geometry and Foliations 2013 is an international conference on the foliation theory. The conference is hosted by the University of Tokyo, Komaba, Japan. The conference begins in the morning of September 9, 2013 and ends in the afternoon of September 14, 2013.
The objective of the conference is to stimulate the exchange of new ideas in various fields of foliations. Any field of foliation theory will be treated in Geometry and Foliations 2013 (GF2013), with special emphasis on new directions of research for future development.
The topics include:
- foliations and groups of homeo-/diffeomorphisms,
- homotopy theory and h-principles of foliations,
- foliations and symplectic/contact structures,
- holomorphic foliations,
- characteristic classes,
- discrete group actions,
- foliations and low dimensional topology.
The organizing committee would like to invite leading researchers on these topics. Young researchers are encouraged to take part in the conference: poster sessions and a limited number of contributed talks are planned. See below for the details.

Those who wish to give a talk or participate in a poster session can apply via our GF2013 registration page at
http://gf2013.ms.u-tokyo.ac.jp/registration.html
Deadline of application is:
Friday, May 31, 2013.
Application should be accompanied with an abstract as well as other
required information. The abstract should be in 2-4 pages of A4 paper
in length. A more precise format by a style file (for LaTeX) will be
provided quite soon on the conference web page.
Once your application is received, you will receive an (automated)
confirmation. We will decide speakers in June and contact to the
applicants separately.
Speakers, the both invited and contributed, are kindly asked to send the final version of their abstract of talks before:
Friday, July 28, 2013
Friday, June 28, 2013
(The deadline was once noticed as Friday, July 28, 2013 in error).
see the next section for the details.
Just in case you are not able to access our web pages, please send us the title of the proposed talk and its abstract by one of the following ways:
Email: gf2013@ms.u-tokyo.ac.jp
Fax: +81-3-5465-7011
(addressed to: GF2013 secretary)
Please note that applications for giving talks must be accompanied by the required registration information, see the Registration section (C) below.
Details of the scientific program will be posted on our conference web page in the middle of July.
(B) Abstract Booklet
We will distribute an extended Abstract Booklet, and for that, we request that all the speakers prepare a rather detailed abstract of 2-8 pages (of A4 paper).
A more precise format by a style file (for LaTeX) will be provided quite soon on the conference web page. We strongly recommend the authors to submit the manuscripts electronically as a PDF or DVI file at the web page.
We will also accept those clearly printed on A4 or letter size papers (so that they are legible when reduced to 80%) with the margin of all sides being at least 1 inch (2.5cm) and sent by postal mail to

(A) Travel
The conference is hosted by the University of Tokyo. The most convenient airport to fly to is the Haneda International airport. However, you will find mostly flights to the Narita International airport, from which you can come to the city center by `Narita express' (carried by JR-East), `Sky linear' (by Keisei lines) or `Airport Limousin' buses (carried by Airport Transport Service). More detailed information will be found on the web page of GF2013 (http://gf2013.ms.u-tokyo.ac.jp). Additional information can be found on the Web pages of:
